City of Sherburn Residential Citywide Clean-Up Day
May 2nd, 2026
All items must be placed at the curb prior to 6:00 a.m. and only those purchasing a flag by April 30th from City Hall may place items curbside or residents may choose to drop off items at the truck behind City Hall between 8:00AM and 11:00AM.
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE IN THE CLEANUP
Residents who live in the City limits of Sherburn. No waste from non-residential customers, contractors, businesses or those residing outside the City limits will be accepted. No piles larger than 2-yards or what would easily fit in the bed of a pick- up, all larger piles will be left.
ACCEPTABLE ITEMS AND PREPARATION GUIDELINES
- General Non-Hazardous Household Waste “junk”
- Furniture items (Couches, Chairs, Tables, Mattresses, Box Springs, etc.)
- Small amounts of re-modeling materials (Siding, Drywall, Carpet, etc.) in containers
- All loose materials must be contained in bags, trash containers or boxes that can be safely loaded by one person
- Bagged material is limited to 25-lbs per bag, bags must be tied so they can be lifted from the top
- Sharp objects such as broken glass must be enclosed in puncture proof containers
- Absolutely NO loads of loose shingles or construction debris will be accepted!
- Trucks will not loop back around to pick up items placed out after the truck has passed a location
UNACCEPTABLE ITEMS INCLUDE
- Asbestos
- Batteries (Includes: auto, flashlight, rechargeable, etc.)
- Chemical Products (Includes: herbicides, pesticides)
- Medical Waste and Sharps (Needles)
- Fluorescent Tubes and Light Bulbs
- Hazardous, Industrial, Infectious Waste
- Any Liquid Waste including Paints, Thinners, Removers
- Oils, Oil Rags (Includes: any type of oil drilling waste)
- Radioactive Materials Naturally Occurring (NORM)
- Tires
- Yard Waste (Includes: grass clippings, tree and shrub waste)
- Appliances
- Electronics

SOME ITEMS IN PHOTOS ARE ACCEPTED (IE MATTRESS-BOXSPRING) HOWEVER, IT IS IN WHICH MANNER THE ITEMS ARE SET OUT ON THE CURBSIDE OR ACCESSIBLE FOR WASTE MANAGEMENT DRIVERS. PLEASE MONITOR YOUR CURBSIDE- ITEMS NEED TO BE ACCESSIBLE TO THE DRIVERS AND IN ORDERLY FASHION. EXAMPLES: IN TOTES, WRAPPED TOGETHER, LIGHTWEIGHT ENOUGH TO LIFT UNDER 25LBS, NO SHARP DANGEROUS OBJECTS STUCK OUT, NO NAILS IN BOARDS, NO CONSTRUCTION DEBRI, STACKED. TRUCKS WILL NOT COME BACK AROUND AND THE CITY IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR REIMBURSEMENT OF FLAG SALES IF NOT PRESENTED PRIOR TO WASTE MANAGEMENT PICKUP.
